Position Summary
Possesses a highly specialized knowledge base and skills to facilitate patient treatment and staff development. Communicates clinical issues, as they relate to service or program development, to the DOR. Promotes clinical development, competency and expertise in staff to maximize patient outcomes. Assists with daily operational management tasks as directed by the DOR. Effectively communicates on multiple levels.
Standards of Performance
Based on the Competency Program established for direct care providers, possesses the skills and competencies necessary to communicate, assess, evaluate, set goals, and educate in accordance with age specific criteria and issues of adolescence, adult and geriatric patients within the context of the job responsibilities and functions.

Responsible for all job duties outlined in the Staff Therapist job description.
Develops comprehensive clinical expertise in designated specialty area in order to facilitate progressive therapeutic intervention and ongoing quality care. Applies clinical expertise in a manner that assists the organization in achieving strategic goals as well as in provision of the best patient care.
Specific Duties
Facilitates staff development and mentorship through consultations, in services and development of human resources within the organization.
Helps foster competency through exceptional interviewing, orientation and training of staff. Participates in core and program competency validation for staff; trains and educates as necessary. Communicates all results with the DOR.
Carries patient caseload and provides comprehensive goal directed patient treatment to maximize patient outcomes. Organizes patient treatment in order to maximize productivity and treatment efficiency on an individual and department basis.
Acts as a resource to the organization and the community in area of specialization through education, marketing and promotion of services.
Identifies, responds and reports acute changes in patient status. Follows appropriate emergency procedures to insure patient safety. Coordinates and facilitates departmental response to emergency situations.
Identifies and manages the various level of care necessary for optimal patient care delivery. May delegate to the Therapy Assistants and supportive personnel to maximize patient outcomes and departmental efficiency.
Promotes flexibility, team building and engagement in organization to promote an efficient and positive work environment.
Participates in student program, as assigned, and provides a positive learning environment for students with appropriate supervision, development of learning objectives and completion of student evaluations.
Fosters interdisciplinary collaboration to ensure quality and efficient service delivery. Effectively communicates to all members of the rehab team in a timely, concise and professional manner.
Serves as a liaison between clinical department and DOR to further clinically develop staff, service and/or program. Demonstrates awareness of department's needs and assists with daily operations as assigned by the DOR.
Works with other departments to develop and enhance the comprehensive scope of services.
Pursues focused skill development through continuing education, self-study and involvement in professional activities and organizations.
Assists with conceptualization, development, implementation and evaluation of new and existing clinical programs within scope of clinical expertise.
Utilizes performance improvement methodology to improve quality of services.
Helps ensure department compliance with all regulatory requirements including JCAHO, CARF, DOH, local and state agencies as well as those established by the organization. Helps document compliance, as requested.
Objectively assesses the skills and competencies of the clinical team and provides enrichment opportunities for team members to achieve stated program outcomes. Facilitates others to reach higher levels of performance through instruction, delegation, participation and coaching.
Designs, initiates, coordinates and implements new and existing programs including management, service delivery and marketing. Coordinates with other departments to develop and enhance the comprehensive scope of the service.
Acts as a resource to the community in area of specialization via education and promotion of services. Seeks new opportunities and actively participates in patient and professional advocacy efforts that may include lobbying activities, health fairs, community events, professional memberships and charitable fundraising activities.
Participates in departmental and organizational program committees and understands the national marketplace as it pertains to program development and management. Integrates clinical expertise, current research, technological advances, legislative and legal issues to facilitate the best outcomes of their potential impact on the organization.
Oversees clinical care management in designated specialty area. Demonstrates advanced team building skills including the ability to positively influence others in promoting a clinically effective, efficient and positive work environment. Adopts a collaborative approach, has a facilitative style, and is able to use the strengths of other team members to improve patient care outcomes. Identifies service related needs, investigates solutions and initiates communications with supervisor with regards to necessary supplies, equipment and clinical training.
Serves as a daily resource to staff creating a positive learning environment and assisting in staff clinical development. Assists in the orientation and training of new staff and of staff rotating from other departments within the organization. Demonstrates self awareness of their communication and teaching style as well as the receptiveness and learning styles of their audience. Provides mentoring that instills confidence, motivates, and elevates team members performance. Contributes to department engagement through coaching of clinical, operational or speaking skills.
Delegates patient care or program improvement activities in order to maximize clinical effectiveness and operational efficiency. Communicates clear directions and timelines; follows up and offers clear feedback. Allows colleagues the opportunity to manage interesting and innovative projects without influence. Empowers others to participate in decision making and to share in responsibility.
Completes medical record documentation in a clear, concise, accurate and timely manner and ensures accurate and timely charge entry using approved formats in compliance with state, federal and intermediary guidelines and in accordance with the established policies and procedures. Contributes information related to standardized measures related to program specific needs. Provides team members with feedback and guidance regarding program specific documentation. Assists supervisor to ensure care is provided under valid physician orders and within insurance approval, as indicated and necessary for clinical care of the patient.
Identifies and initiates own professional growth and seeks novel platforms for pursuing professional development in specialty areas, such as correspondence with market peers, literature review, publication, research, lecture preparation, graduate studies.
Understands the organizations performance improvement methodology to improve quality of services provided by this position and uses this methodology to participate in program improvement initiatives. Offers suggestions to the department. Takes an active role in implementing new PI initiatives. Enlists support from colleagues based on expertise or interests. Provides feedback regarding outcomes through staff meetings, focus groups, or direct supervision in order to maximize performance improvement outcomes.
Adheres to State Practice Act and other regulatory authority or agencies. Maintains professional licensure in good standing and completes all state mandated continuing education requirements. Performs in an ethical manner in accordance with professional Code of Ethics.

Minimum Education & Experience (Including Licenses)
Bachelor's Degree in PT/OT/ST required.Current and valid state licensure as a PT/OT/ST required.A minimum of five years experience in a rehab setting required with supervisory experience preferred.Additional Data

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
